the love song

i here.

i was watching a musical a few days ago and i realized how far music had gone. from classic orchestra to big band to jazz to swing to rock n roll and hiphop.

a posted some stuff a while ago about different genres of music, and the seeming insignificance of nationalistic music. speaking of music being trodden over, i think i know what has taken its place.

love songs.

dear friends turn on the radio. i bet it's a love song. after the next five songs, one about life, about strife, a dance dance song, about anything in between but sure enough after that is another love song.

they come in all genres too - rap, opera, pop, rnb, hiphop, you name it.
some sound authentic, some totally not (which is more often than the authentic ones today unfortunately)

frankly, i'm not so impressed with the love song.

there's just sucha flood of it, and i believe music is supposed to evoke emotion, and some songs just don't do that. don't get me wrong, there are some really tingly feely ones still but there are some that are just cheap excuses for songs with a good beat.

oops, this became a rant, sorry!

still, i beliebve there is hope for the love song. looking at my music library, some people have real talent and i hope more of that comes out in the future.

s'all for now seeya!

uhuh. oldies still rock. songs right now are mostly...beat-oriented, or whatever you call it. they can sing about any random thing (but mostly it's abour LUUURVE!), and no matter how senseless the lyrics are, people will love it if the tune's catchy.

but still. these songs don't help us in Buwan ng Wika :|

Love songs...The better ones were in the older eras of music, in my opinion.
Today love songs usually sound so generic, like with most of the new emo pop-rock bands that won't seem to stop popping up.

@meggyeggy oldies are tired and tested xD cause the sucky oldies are forgotten, the best are remembered, so we only remeber the good ones. there were some not so good ones too i guess but not as publicized :)

@seaweedbrain7 , yes, GENERIC was the word i was looking for!
i think the ones from musicals ar the most emotion evoking for me :)

That's right!
Nowadays people are making songs that we don't even consider music anymore. They're only like fast repetitive words with rhythm. Like in Britney's Womanizer, Lady Gaga's Pokerface, and many more.
I thought music were supposed to have meaning. But these songs are just senseless.
Yes, sometimes I do prefer the oldies. :D

waw. so impressed.. kaunti alg ngaun ang mas nagbbgay ng importance sa message ng song. ung iba kxe eh porket mganda lg eung beat mgnda na ung song. pwo its good 2 know that there are still someone like me who gives more emphasis on what the song tries to tell us on whatever stuffs concerned other than the beat of the song. :) a song is senseless no matter how good the tune is when it doesn't bring lessons or insights to the listener.

@kianpeag: true! repetetive words to something catchy people can't get it our of their heads. and it sells too unfortunately!

the oldies are tried and tested kase. the ugly ones are forgotten. maybe ten eyars from now womanizer will be forgotten. maybe not. let's just support the great artists we have today...the few we have left :P :)
